29.04.08:
Hi Kenth,
I notice from your pages that you mention the German law about killing fish. I
have now done the German fishing course ( in English through the US army as my
wife is American ) and can now tell you the reasoning behind it. It all came
about when the Green party had a lot of power but here are the main points.
1. It was decided that catching fish purely for pleasure was wrong, therefore if
someone went fishing it had to be for the purpose of catching fish for food, not
pleasure.
2. There are strict size limits applied nationally. All undersize/out of season
fish MUST be returned immediately.
3. It is possible to argue that a big fish is uneatable and that is why it is
being returned, but you may have to argue it in court.
4. Anti-fishing people may watch you and report you for returning fish as by
doing so you are obviously fishing for fun and not food.
5. All fish that are caught have to be killed humanely. It is law to carry your
licence, measuring stick ( tommestock ? ), scales and a fish dispatcher ( small
club for killing fish )
6. There are a set of national fishing rules. If you have a private lake the
rules cannot be made easier, they can only be increased. With this in mind I
contacted a fish biologist angler in Berlin and put it to him that clubs could
INCREASE restrictions by increasing the size limits, for example a carp from
30cm to 2 meters meaning that you have increased the fishing restrictions and
then every carp you catch will be under the size limit. The guy said it was a
good idea but it would be laughed out of court !
7. Some good news is that a lot of anglers ignore the rules because the rules
are stupid but it is sensible to fish somewhere away from people's eyes.
Hope this answers some of your questions about the German mentality towards
fishing.
As for myself, I steer clear nowadays from mainstream carp anglers due to the
almost pathological secrecy of some anglers. Some don't even want you knowing
what colour boilies they are using and can get quite aggressive. I still go
fishing a lot ( not as much as I used to ) and now my carp trips are with some
English guys who I met a few years ago who share tips and advice and we all have
a great time on our trips especially as 2 of them are professional cooks ! This
will be our 4th year of meeting up. My next trip is May 3-12 in France and in
September I may be off to New Hampshire USA where my wife's family live.
Hope you are well and I wish you plenty of fishing success.
Dave Maddison, Germany
Oups - sorry about this delay, Dave - I only just
rediscovered your mail in my mailbox today! - I hope you can forgive me!
Quite an idea to increase the upper size limit of catchable carp - but I
feel it would fall troublesome not to laugh myself either!
Like I've said before - those laws are no less than brainless nonsense! - But
they are still laws - and may be used against local as well as visiting anglers
alike.
Personally I have decided to drop all plans to explore german waters - I can't
even get to find time to fish all the other waters, I would like to, and then
why not save myself the trouble?
I still primarily tend to stick to France, Spain and Belgium, when I fish
outside Denmark - but do occasionally pick up the chance to go elsewhere. I
guess Germany will not be considered at all.

20.04.08:
Hi Kenth, just back from a tough "spring" session on a private water in Brittany
- just to wet the appetite for a few big waters this year!
Arrived in darkness only to see temps plummet, hailstones then snow did their
best to restrict our 1st trip of the year, but a few fish fell to hard work
including this common which really is worth a mention in my opinion. As I
previously talked about, we are still on schedule for Montbel and will be
docking at Cherbourg so if you have a few waters to add to my list on the way
that are worth a look let me know. Cabanac will see us on the way down for sure.
cheers, Gordon Goodwin
Wow - What a start to the new season! Look at
those colors (opening page)!
Unfortunately, I can't add any informations on waters in the Cherbourg area. You
see, I always list new informations as soon as I get them - as otherwise i'd
probably forget all about them! No doubts, that in quite a few cases, I may have
lost informations available due to lack of time to make everyday updates - but
that's life.
I do have a life besides making these pages, you know.
Prologic Press Release:
Cold Water Success!!
16-04-2008
Now it´s April and we are still waiting for spring… The watertemperature at our
chosen lake near the river Rhine is still around eight Degrees Celsius and it
seems that it won't rise anymore this year... But my mate Christoph and me were
out every weekend. And with big results as you see. After starting in deepest
part of the big lake last week we caught commons up to 19kg (see gallery). But
then, the behaviour of the fish changed and they started to move - as I wrote it
in my article „spring time in big waters“ you find on this webpage - over into
the very shallows even the water is still cold there. And so we did with our
rods. Little 14mm critically balanced Banana&Crustacean Snowmans with stringers
did the job with just very careful prebaiting with 14 and 18mm Boilies and 15mm
DNA Halibut Pellets.
The next trip showed us that the biggies go first into the shallows. A 20,5kg
mirror was the perfect result of the last trip. The fish moved very slow, head
shaking all the time while I played her. First I thought it could be a small one
but than I felt the weight in the 2,5Ib Classic Carp Rod and finally when
lifting the net. The small C2 size 6 hook was dificult to find in the huge mouth
– so perfectly hooked. You do not need big hooks for big fish!
So here we go with a perfect start into a new season on DD-Bait. Still wating
for warmer weather… Cheers Bastian Reetz!
Crazy River fishing!
14-04-2008
Italian Big river specialist Stefano Incerti have had some incredible
fishing the last month . 2 times a week since the beginning of March, Stefani
has been prebaiting with 2,5kg Banana Crustacean readymade in mixed size and a
small percent of the brand new Pineapple Crustacean readymades. Fishing only 10
hours a week and only during daytime on saturday he have landed totally 24 carp
with 10+kg of average size, topped just last saturday afternoon on this
extremely rare specimen mirror of 17,8kg, a March to remember !!
Welcome Hauke Kleinen!
10-04-2008
We would like to welcome Hauke Kleinen to our Prologic Carp Team. The
30year old dentist lives in Hamburg and is a full-blooded carp angler, fishing
every weekend. Hauke loves to fish the big natural lakes in eastern Germany and
the rough reservoirs in northern France, where quality tackle is needed badly.
He has great knowledge about tackle and will support the brand with innovative
ideas. Hauke is not only a skilled angler with a good list of big carp, he is
also a fully equipped talented photographer. Expect to see his pictures on the
front page regularly, not only because he teamed up with Christopher
Paschmanns!!

Really like your site. I am soon to be visiting Cassien for fishing for Carp.
Would you have any recent catch reports from the venue?
Gary Smart
No.
27.03.08:
Hi Kenth,
thank you for providing a treasure trove of information on your site. some
wonderful ladies displayed & the fish aint bad either! could yourself or one of
the boys provide any info on Montbel? re. the current status of the water/
restrictions /boat hire / night fishing / etc.. myself and my brother are
heading over to that region in August and thought we would give it a week or
two.
Attached are a couple of shots for you, one from each of our last two trips in
Oct & Dec 07, one from an estate lake in France and the other from the Ebro.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers, Gordon Goodwin

Thanks for the mail and pictures -
nice fish!
Regarding Lac de Montbel, french media have been very quiet over these last
couple of years, and next to nothing have to my knowledge been published on the
status of the fishing these days, and I've not been in the area for several
years myself either.
Nightfishing will still be allowed on Lac de Montbel this year - as far as I
understand on the whole lake. Permits can be obtained in local villages - but
can also be ordered on the
site
of the Fédération de Pêche of the Ariège departement. The site and the
application form is of course in french but is quite understandable. In august,
a "Carte de vacance" is available at 30€, valid for 15 days.
4 rods are allowed, as is the use of a fishfinder (new for 2008). Whether boats
are for hire locally, I don't know for sure, but expect so, as I saw a "Base
Nautique" on the west bank - and usually boats are for hire such places.
I might add, that the lake is extremely beautifull - and for what I know, will
still be worth a visit - even though not many catch-reports have been posted
from it these last years.
This, I think, is probably at least partially due to a change of attitudes
amongst the french carp anglers over the last 6-7 years - and even though they
love to present really big fish one after the other in the many carp magazines
and in internet sites, they tend to keep very quiet with informations on
locations and venues.
Like way too many others - in my oppinion.
25.03.08 - Prologic Press Release:
Danish Bigfish hunter, Poul
Stolling, had a severe case of Carpfever during the easter days – so a quick
decision and Poul and friend packed the car and was of to a hopefully French
spring! Conditions at the chosen river was superb on arrival and after only 6
hours of fishing – Poul’s right hand rod flies off! Poul is quickly in the boat
and after a short hectic battle a big common broke the surface – unfortunately
the fish goes ballistic and picks up the other line and looses hookhold after
short time!
First biggie of the year was lost!
Next morning at 11 the same rod, fished at 6m depth, flew of again – this Time
Poul was more lucky and after 10min of hard fight, the fish was in the net! The
fish turned out to be a perfect 18,5kg 97cm long common – what a start to the
season – yehaaaa!
Poul caught the perfect fish on a 20mm DD Crustacean snowman, fished over a bed
of Crustacean Feedermix, tooped up with DNA pellet extract, mussel juice and a
bit of salmon oil!
Keep the pictures and reports coming, whether it is big carp or any other great
specimen fish - we cannot get enough!
Brgds Mads Grosell
See the picture in the opening page - what a
cracking way to enter the new 2008 season!
Congratulations, Poul! - Well done!
24.03.08:
I was wondering if you had details of how to book boats in advance at Cassien. I
am planning a trip in May and I am finding it very difficult to find any
information on the web.
Love the site mate. Really good pictures.
An English Carper Gary Smart.
I'm glad you like my site - I try to do my best!
I too have been wondering why it doesn't seem to be possible to book boats in
Lac de St. Cassien over the internet. I've never seen such an option published.
One reason could be, though, that at times the lake is so absolutely packed with
anglers, that even if you had a boat reservation, you may not be able to find a
vacant swim! Sometimes, anglers have had to wait for days and even weeks to get
in a swim when someone else is leaving! I suspect may could very well be one of
those times in the year, where luck have better be on your side to get you a
swim at all on this lake!
You could try to contact one of the restaurants at the lake though - I think
they have boats for hire. A Google search will probably bring out some ideas of
whom to ask of the local guys. Even if most of their sites will be in french, I
think there's a good chance to get an answer to a question in english too.

From horror to happiness!
29-02-2008
That’s how I would describe my last trip to the mysterious Cassien this February
together with my friend Jan-Simon Saamen. Well motivated we started off in the
evening and were perfectly in time in the morning, a few kilometres south of
Lyon, when our car broke down! What the f…! To keep it short: A service wagon
picked us up we had to spend a sleepless night in the dirtiest hotel I had ever
seen, it took them one and a half days to repair our red dragon (a Peugeot kind
of older than your grand-grand-mother) and we arrived at Cassien in total
darkness. Two nights lost, two nights without fishing.
On our first swim we blanked two nights, but celebrated my birthday with a good
meal and more wine. On these days I could observe two good carp swimming in a
little bay and gave them some DD Bait Tigernuts which they took with no
hesitation. On the third morning a mild mistral wind blew in to that bay
signaled us: Time to move!
I placed a rod where I saw the fish and it took a minute till it was off: 16kg
mirror! Yes! But nothing more happened the night, nor the next night. We moved
again, blanked again. Then, for the last five nights we got the swim we wanted
from the start.
Two friendly German guys fished it for one and a half weeks with only two fish
to show. It took us 48 hours to understand the swim (thank you Meik for that one
tip!) and then we gave them our DD Bait Midi Mix Boilies without Flavour but
with Liquid Sweetner and 20% Liverpowder! In our last three days we had no less
than 19 runs and 18 fish with two old Cassien originals above 20kg, a 19,5kg and
a few more above 15kg+ quite a few of those hand selected fully scaled mirror
carp! A winter-trip to remember for sure and a recipe to remember too!

In Etang Padou aren''t any fish enymore. All the big fish have been stolen by

biggest in this lake is 27 kg but it is hard to fish. For more information call

Hi, I´m Miguel form Madrid.
I saw in your web that fish of some 15-17kg carp in Embalse de Valmayor isn't be
difficult. I´m fish this reservoir for more than 8 years, but only 2 in serius
carping.
Please i want to know more information about this lake. I know about big carp
but never see them. The biggest we caught weighed 10kg. If you have some picture
or more info about it, please email me.
Thanks Miguel A. Martín
As I have no experiences from the water myself, and as usual fully rely on informations from a range of different sources, I unfortunately rarely will be able to provide other informations than what is already available in the CARPHUNTERS Suite site. This is also the case here. Therefore my only advice is to keep on trying - some day, you may bump into the better fish.

At this time I have some low res photos. I have made contact with the Angler in
question, and he has given us permission to spread the news.
There will be a CD at our office here within the week with all the high res.
photos....
All I know at this stage is that the fish was caught on the 11th of Feb on a
water called Zújar in Badajoz - Extremadura. The fish was caught by the young
due of Anglers David Aldana and Abel Deogracias as you can see from this low res
photo Abel had problems holding the fish. The fish has been officially measured
by an official at the correct weight of 34.900kg. The speciemen was caught and
released.

Michael fished an old Gravel pit, with a “single hookbait” tactic’s. Hookbait’s where 24mm homemades, made from DDbait Crustacean Boiliemix, longtime soaked in Crustacean dip. At 01.00, Micheal had a run. Even the water temperature was extremely low, the carp fought like crazy – but Finally Michael could land this huge fish. 26,4kg – properly, the biggest fish caught so far in 2008 – DDbait rocks – not a bad start! Hi
I am looking to see if you can give me some ideas of venues in France. We have
fished there many times on the tour type holiday thing. We have moved past this
now and prefer to just book the boat and go. We fished in the Loire area last
year Roland, Jonquoy Ect. We are looking for some thing on a similar set up
within 300 Km of Calais. Big fish are a priority 40s 50s.ect plus also a good
size lake 50acres upwards. We have a boat engine fish finder ect. Many thanks.

As I have no personal experiences
from waters within this range of Calais, it would be foolish of me to point out
any particular waters in the region before others. As most of the informations
in the site are simpley the extracts from the sources mentioned in connection
with each water listed, it is impossible for me to add to what is already
published in the respective pages.
If anyone out there can add to the issue, please mail me!

pages there are no pictures especially on the European Carp Waters page. I'm
unable as before to click on the map (as there isn't one) just a little red
cross in the white box.
Maybe it could be my internet settings messing things up.
I will keep trying. Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks for notifying me on the problem, which I
hadn't noticed myself. It was in fact a remnant of a severe harddisk breakdown
in late november, making it nescessary for me to transfer all files - data and
the lot - to new ones! In the process, some files didn't upload correctly. I did
loose important files of the CH-Suite site, but have been able to recover or
reconstruct all of those already uploaded - and I hope things work now, after
the corrections made today.
A few new pages, not ready for publishing yet, were lost though - but if I get
to recall what was planned, they will eventually turn up with future updates!
With at site like this, some pages can be worked on for weeks, months or even
more than a year, before I find them ready for the site.
In fact, I'm not at this time quite aware of what was lost ......

08.01.08: Prologic Press Release: From Italian Prologic Boss, we recieved a newyears card: "After a long period with no time for fishing, finally I found space for a 4 night session. I was not very confident because the days of my fishing trip seemed to be the very Coldest. Night temperature dropped to -9 degree Celcius and during the days it barely topped 0 degrees. But never say never! I put all my extreme cold weather clothing in my bag (the insulation of my Prologic floatation suite is amazing). The baits was already prepared: F4 Crustacean readymade in size 16 and 24mm soaked for 2 weeks in pure Krill Juice. When I finally came on the lake the situation was terrible : 4 couples of carp anglers was fishing on second night and not one single bite !! After a quickly recognition of the possible swim I chose a place with many old weedbeds and a maximum depth of 7,5 meters, very close to the bank. First Nigth gave me a run at 01:00. After a very hard fight due to the ice on the reel and the extreme condition I lost the fish in some snag. This first bite was on a snow man Crustacean 16/16mm, due to this, I decided use the same presentation on all rods. Second night nothing, but the morning after the third night at 8:45, while I was drinking an hot coffee I had an incredible slow run. I picked up the rod and in the boat, to avoid the snags. After 10 minutes hard battle an amazing color mirror was in my landing net. 16,5kg mirror…. Not a monster but incredible satisfaction in these conditions!!! I could not wish for a better way to end the 2007 season! Crustacean readymade snowman 16/16mm mounted on C2 size 2 hooks blow back rigged on combi-link Taipan 25lb and Spectum Fluorocarbon 30lbs – did the trick. All the other anglers didn’t have a single bite!" Brgds Mads Grosell, Manager www.svendsen-sport.com |

105cm Common!
I spent a wonderfull week fishing in the heart of Spain with Pete Staggs, whoms
fishing holidays I can only recommend to anybody who likes untouched natural
waters and adventurous fishing. Daytemperatures reached around 25 C, while it
dropped to -7 C in the nights. Extreme conditions. Anyways, our 24mm
Kiwi-Crustacean Readymades did a good job in the cold water. We caught a couple
of very beautifull carp. Maybe these fish will never see a hook again??? A
common topped the magical meter mark by almost 6! centimeters, a really long and
lean fighter that was. I also had the luck to catch one of the heavily scaled
uncommon mirros from the lagoons. But in the last moment I fullfilled my dream
and landed a golden comizo barbel. What a beautifull fish that was. No monster,
but worth the effort all the way. I can fully understand Pete: One gets addicted
to these creatures!!!
Christopher Paschmanns.
2 x PB in one
session!!
In this 2 day session I had two times a new PB for common carp (old PB was 17,0
Kg). The first day I caught a common of 20,0 kg with F4 Crustacean 24 mm bottom
bait and the second day a huge common of 23,0 kg again on F4 Crustacean 24 mm
boilies (the carps love it!!). I always use the poly leader (I can't fish
without it!!) the hook was the reliable C4.

25.11.07: Hi Kenth! Still busy with working all the time? Don’t forget to take a break and go fishing! I haven’t fished much lately, but i have some real good news to report! In the latest session I have fished a big lake in Holland. This time no France for me. The fishing trip was a big success, the first day we caught already some good fish. During the session I lost also some real good fish, so i decide to change the whole rig for some new ones. That was a real good idea, because I caught al other carps. At one night, i get a real hard run and when I took the rod, the carp was at full speed. Stopping was impossible so we decided to follow the carp with the boat. After some time, we landed the carp and at first sight we didn’t think it was a big one. But when lifting the carp out of the water, it was heavy! Maybe this carp is a new record? When we weigh the carp, I see that I caught my new personal record! The carp weight a stunning 23,8kg! My old (French) record is broken whit this impressive Dutch common carp! Kindly regards Alex Poot |

Wow, Alex - you have no idea how busy I've been
lately! Work is one thing - but for more than a month computer problems have
been almost killing me! Fishing has simply not been an option due to concerns to
losse irreplacable data (including the site files) - but finally things are
looking brighter, and I have recovered almost all files and lost only very
little!
Congratulations with this absolutely stunning fish! I know how much effort you
have put into fishing both dutch, belgian and frenc waters thes past quite a few
years - and I think it's only fair, that you've caight such a beauty in yopur
own home country!

Big Balls !
15-11-2007 From Italy, we get reports of great fishing – here is one:
The chosen lake’s water level was extremely low and the first 2 days of fishing
only gave a few small carp. During the 3rd day Roberto Bussolari and Kevin found
a new and extremely interesting spot: 410 meters from the bank the bottom of the
lake rose from 21 meters depth and very soft silt to 9 meters and rock hard
bottom!! Kevin and Roberto managed to place 3 rigs in this 9m shelf.. As many
times before on this lake, single DDbait Big Ball pop up’s is one of the best
choices. Lats 2 nights resulted in commons of 17,2 18,5 and 20,2 kg plus many
other from 8 to 12 kg, all fish caught with Crustacean or Biored big ball popups,
mounted on C1 size 1 hooks. Pictured is Roberto, with a stunning 20,2kg November
common. We also had many great reports from France, Italy, UK etc – see them in
the gallery! Also see Bastian Reetz’s short article on target fishing – in the
tip’s and media section.
Guillaume Vial shows the way!
Back from a one week session on the big and difficult lake I told you last time.
Results were good again, with some nice fish caught. Biggest were 18kg – 19kg –
23,5kg … and guess what ? Yes again the 29kg mirror I caught 2 weeks before.
Again a very mobile approach and big quantities of boilies prebaited (100kg)
with still the same recipe : Crustacean and Biored Boiliemix, Soluble Fish
Protein, Liver Powder, Chrisalis Silkworm, Mussel and Crayfish Juice. Never
change a winning recipe !!! Now cold weather has come but carp season is far
from over. I’ll keep you posted »

11.11.07:
Dear Kenth,
I hope you are well recovered from you cat fishing trip and are gearing up for
the festive season. I have just returned from the Mirrors of La Mancha where we
were fortunate enough to up our barbel personal bests, although the fishing
there as you know is not easy to say the least we managed a true specimen in the
form of a 25 lb 8 oz common barbel one of the largest in Europe, in addition a
few Comizo's. In addition, on my return to the Ebro I heard rumors of big fish
and had a day session with fellow guide Gary Allen, also attached are a couple
of low 40 lb commons with other carp to just over 50 lb recently landed.
Tightest Lines to you
Stephen Buss

I'm glad to hear, that what we experienced at our
visit to Ebro have turned up to be less severe than we could fear, and that good
carp are still there to be caught! - That means, that we have something to
return for - and I would certainly love to experience the river Ebro carpfishing,
like it's known to be - instead of seing dead carp floating by, while the
buzzers remained absolutely silent for days.
Congratulations with the fantastic comizo's - and the other barbel. I'm not sure
that you've got the species right, though, as to the best of my knowledge the
common european barbel (Barbus barbus) is not present in Castilla de La Mancha -
and I think you've mistaken a Common Spanish Barbel (Barbus
bocagei)
for the common european barbel. In Spain you also find Small-head barbel (Barbus microcephalus) - which is still also another species
different from the common barbel found
in the rest of Europe. All this of cause doesn't make the fish any less
impressive - and huge for any of the species!
06.11.07:
Hi Kenth,
Thank you very much for your honest statement about the pictures which you have
recently got from the Prologic Team. It is a shame for any photographer to make
such wide angle pictures. I would recommend you not to publish such inaccetable
pictures. Poor carpers who need such shoots for their ego!!!
Best Regards from Graz, Austria ,
Andreas Karrer
I'm glad you share my view regarding utra-wide
angle presentation shots - they shouldn't be nescessary at all, and they
do certainly not do the angler, nor the carp, any more credit at all!
Unfortunately, with modern techology most cameras these days are able to
exaggerate and simply distort proportions - which is why we se so many of these
pictures. Not bringing them in my site would of course be a possibility - but it
could very well mean starving the pages of any catch-reports at all!
I have thus decided against this option - as I think it will be clear for
everyone within some time, which type of pictures to consider valuable as
documentation - and which ones not!
Documentation has to be reliable to be of any value - and the ultra-wide angle
shots are no such thing!
I hope the wide-angle hype will be over in a while - and we get more honest and
reliable trophee shots instead!

Prologic Press-release:
Two weeks ago, we announced that French Prologic Team member, Guillaume Vial,
just broke his PB. When it deals with such a skilled and experienced full time
carp angler, we knew it would be something really big. Here is his report : «
Just back from a session in a highly difficult big lake, with even unexpected
results. In 10 days, I got 6 runs with 5 carp landed : 13 – 15- 18,5-19 and a
fantastic mirror of 29kg. This carp broke my PB with an extra 1,5kg (Guillaume’s
former PB was the famous St Cassien Banana at 27,5kg). To achieve this result, I
basically changed my strategy with a very mobile approach and a new spot every
day, prebaited the day before. Concerning baits, I have used 100kg of 30mm home
rolled boilies made with Crustacean and Biored Mix, added with Soluble Fish
Protein, Liver Powder, Chrysalis Silkworm, Mussel Juice and Crayfish Juice. I
had the evidence that they just love these baits when I saw the quantity they
rejected in the carp bags. When you’ll read this, I’ll be on the lake’s bank
again … So, see you soon!!!! » Keep the pictures and reports coming, whether
it’s big predators, carp or any other great specimen fish - we cannot get enough!

Hi
My name is Daniel and I come from Sweden. I should go to Moselle and fish for a
week in october. And I wonder if its a good time to fish in Moselle and if i
should prebait much or less. And if you have some good information about the
river and some good places to fish in october.
Kind regards Daniel Anderson
October usually is a prime month to
fish in most of France - and the rivers in the north are no exceptions!
I have not fished the river Moselle at this time of the year, but would
certainly very much like to, as I have no doubts of the potentials of this time
of the year! The trouble is, that I have never had the opportunity in october!
Bear in mind, though, that river fishing will be very depending on water levels
- which are in turn depending on the weather in distant areas, where weather
alterations are beginning to be the order of the day this time of the year. As
with fishing in general, you can never be certain to get the right conditions to
arrive to a fantastic fishing - but you'll definately have a chance in october!
The water level may make it hard or even difficult difficult to fish - but
difficulties are there to be overcome!
Make sure to bring heavy leads - 120 - 200 gr. or more may be needed - or use a
heavy pebbles rig (rather big stones of ½-1-1½ kg attached to a clip to the
swivel with heavy rubber bands - a boat will be needed to bring out this kind of
rigs and baits).
If currents are heavy, more baiting are of course also needed - unless you
choose to fish backwaters of no current. This, however, I would not recommend,
as I've experienced these areas devoid of fish on my previous visits (in the
spring/early summer), where fish were definately prefering to feed right in the
rim of the most heavy currents just outside such calm backwaters.
River fishing usually requires rather heavy baitings (both boilies and particles
available locally). In my experience it does not pay not to bait enough - and if
you pay thousands of skr to get there and live there for a week, don't try to
save a few kronor - make sure you have enough bait - and pile it in!!
You can get away with less - but be prepared to bait like you've probably never
baited before in Sweden! 25 kg boilies for a week is not considered to be more
than just enough for one man - more can easily be needed - and then there's the
particles to go by ...
These french Moselle river carp are said to be eating all day long - as long as
they are not fighting hard at the end of a line!
It's been a while since I've last visited Moselle the Moselle river at the Metz
area, and lots of things may have changed since then.

French biggies 05-10-2007
In France, carp fishing is totally incredible now.
We've received so many reports and pictures that we can't display them all at
the same time. Today we start with news from Nicolas Quéraud. He spent a 10 days
session on a centre France big lake. After a difficult beginning, he has found
the fish in another part of the lake and results came quickly when they arrived
on the 24mm Crustacean readymades prebaited area.
And what results !!!
21,2kg, 24,2kg and above all 27,8kg (lake's biggest fish and new PB for Nicolas)
felt to 24/20mm Crustacean snowmen tied to C3 size 2 hooks and 0,59mm Spectrum
FC traces. Congratulations, a great achievement. See Nicolas' other biggies in
the Gallery.
We can also announce that famous French carp angler and Prologic Team member,
Guillaume Vial, also just broke his personal best with a huge 29kg mirror carp.
Pictures are on their way.
Brgds Mads Grosell, Manager
www.prologicfishing.com

What impressive fish! - And
congratulations to Nicolas!
Having said that - and admitting being a wide-angle to ultra wide-angle lens
enthusiast myself for some (surprisingly few
and specific) photographic purposes - I find
pictures like these way over the top!
- In fact way far too exaggerating to provide reliable trophee-shots, as were
undoubtedly intended!
There is no real reason for bringing such big fish out arms lenghts right in
front of a ultra wide-angle lens to make it look even bigger and even more
dramatic looking in the first place - as everyone nowadays have seen such things
too many times before and can easily make out the con!
- Most will even be able to do the same with their own cameras!
Luckily, most choose not to do so!
Quite honestly - straight forward pictures with a standard or slight wide-angle
lens would display the fish in a far more appropiate manner - and thus do the
carp, as well as the captor, more justice and credit.
I'm affraid this is a tendency of the latest technologic possibilities in optics
and digital cameras, that are not exactly to the benefit, but rather to the
detriment, of the presentation of good catches. It's important to think things
over - simply to be able to maintain the picture as a reliable means of
documenting our captures!
Please, go easy with this, lads - or all our fish end up looking like disfigured
monsters in pictures with no real value as reliable documentation!
Turning back to these actual pictures, there's no doubt in my mind, that they
picture 3 fantastic fish - but they leave us no chance to evaluate the real size
of each fish within any reasonable limits!
- In my oppinion, these pictures are of no reliable value at all, regarding the
documentation of the real size of any of them ..... - I'm sorry to say!
Dramatic and impressive recordings - definately! - Actually well done .... - the
middle one in particular!
- But of no reliable use as documentation .....
- Think about it, lads!

04.10.07: Carp angling at its best! I finally found a weekend where I had time for some carp angling! After permission from the wife/boss I packed down all my gear + a couple of kilos of the green Kiwi/Apple boilies from Catch-It-Bait. After arriving at the lake I found 3 exquisite hot-spots. One fishing rod was angled at a massive water lilies zone. The second fishing rod was angled at a gravel/sand spot on the otherwise soft lakebed. The third fishing rod I angled at an underwater ridge that started out at an island of reeds in the middle of the lake, a really exceptional and exquisite hot-spot. The three fishing rods were rigged with a secure bolted rig tackle, 15 cm. tackle, Owner hooks angled with short hair. Three hours later the first strike came. A mirror carp weighing 9,7 kg was quickly caught and photographed. During the following 24 hours I caught mirror carp weighing 8,6 -11,3-13 kg and a commoncarp weighing 11,1 kg. To end the party I took one more turn and this time it was an extremely massive fish. The fight started with the fish taking a serious leap of 40 meters and I could not do anything about it. Then I had to jump in the boat to chase the fish. It had decided to go sightseeing through boats, water lilies and reeds... After 15 minutes of severe fighting I got close to the fish and the one thing that should not happen took place. The fish got stuck in a pile of waterlilies. I took the chance and pushed the fish to the limit. Fortunately it escaped and went on with about 20 kg of water lilies sorrounding it. The fish fought like crazy but finally I managed to get the fish in the net! A very happy angler weighed the fish that was 19,5 kg heavy and a lot of good pictures were taken. Tight Lines Henrik Nielsen, Denmark What an incredible result in just one weekend in Denmark! - This s one to remember! |

12.09.07 - Prologic
Press Release:
Potential Scandinavian Common Record!
Prologic consultant, Poul Stolling has done it again! This time Poul hit
jackpot, with an historic brace of big Danish carp, topped by an absolute
stunner of a common carp, with Scandinavian record potential. “By the beginning
of august, I had located some new very interesting lakes, that could contain
some nice sized carp – after some scouting, I decided on a quite deep lake, with
huge amounts of natural food. I had no doubt about the presence of carp – but no
idea about the amount and size – witch just made it all very interesting! For
the fall fishing, I made up 25kg of 20mm DDbait LT fishmix, Monster crab flavour
and added DNA Soluble fish protein and GLM – simply perfect carpfood! I also
prepared a mixture of hemp, tigernuts and DD’s Elips pellet, to start up the
campaign, with a large carpet of particles to get the carp concentrated in my
chosen swim. I found a 100m2 plateau of 3-5 m of water, approx 50m from the
bank, surrounded by quite deep water – this was the perfect place to prebait. I
put the bait in 4 times, with 2 days interval, before I made the first attempt.
2 x 24hours went by, without any run’s or signs of fish?? I drove home
disappointed, but after 2 days I went back to put more bait in, I simply knew
there had to be carp in the big lake! Just as I looked out over the plateau,
before leaving the lake that evening – a huge fish rolled over the baited area.
I had to work for 3 days, before I had the chance to go back – so the days went
by immensely slow. Once back on the lake, conditions could not be better,
westerly warm winds in my face and signs of fish, with milky water in the area.
At 01.00, I get a full dropback on my left SMG rod, followed by a steady run. As
I pick up the run, I feel a heavy fish plunging along the plateau, 5 min later,
the fish comes towards me on the small shallow area in front of me – just to
discover that something is very wrong!! The big fish panic’s and makes a
powerful long rush straight out into the lake. After a good 15min, I am able to
slide the net under, what seems to be a huge fish! On the matt, It proves to an
absolute monster of a common carp, with shacking knees, I get it on the scales
and I after double checking several times – there is no doubt – a new potential
record common of 20,4 kg!! What seems to be a first time capture from the
pristine lake, makes everything very special in the hours to come. I did not
sleep much during the night, awaiting the morning hours photo session and
getting the huge fish witnessed. Just as we put the huge fish back in the
morning, the middle rod is away in a screamer – again a very heavy fish –
unfortunately I loose the hookhold. I only have 10min think about the lost fish,
when the last rod left in takes of – after only 5min the most perfect mirror
carp of 15,7kg is in the net – wow! The next 24 hours I will never forget – the
water on the plateau turns milky white and the action is unreal – every time I
place a hook bait on the baited area I get a run – next morning, I can add fish
of 9,6 12,2, 13,1,13,4, 13,5, 13,6, 13,6, 14,2 & 14,6kg to the 15,7 and 20,4kg
carp!! DDbait strikes again – big time! During the last week I have fished the
lake again and had more incredible action – with perfect fish of 12,6, 13,1,
13,5, 14,1, 15,7 og 16,1 – simply the best carp fishing I have ever witnessed!
Now I am home to make more DDbait LT fishmix & Monster crab boilies – since I
feel confident more big fish will come. All fish was caught on Prologic’s 3
1/4lbs SMG rods and C4 size 4 carphooks, fished on a short trace tied to a
Prologic’s tugsten boom. Baits a mixture of single 20mm LT fishmix, Monster crab
boilies, tigers and snowmen.
We congratulate Poul with this incredible achievement and a potential
Scandinavian common carp record. If the fish will be approved as Danish record,
both the Scandinavian mirror and common record is caught on DDbait. Keep the
pictures and reports coming, whether it’s big predators, carp or any other great
specimen fish - we cannot get enough!

Prologic Press Release: Indian Summer Carp! 30-08-2007 “Just a few days passed since I wrote that Mr. Münz is giving it a go on a secret gravel pit and it worked out on his first night already. He set his traps with DD Biored boilies that he freshly rolled just a few hours before fishing. After a silent night the screaming take came in the late morning hours. The strong fish in the other end turned out to be a big mirror: 19kg+! I can't wait to see what Mr. Münz is going to catch over the coming Indian summer and autumn weeks. There are rumors of a 25kg+...we will see. Together with Chris photos I received a brilliant shot of an old 14kg common carp caught by my friend Felix Esser. A beautiful fish and just one of quite a few fish, that Felix caught over the last days fishing instant with DD Bait readymades. Best regards and keep your thumbs crossed for my two fishing mates, Christopher Paschmanns." We have received some incredible carp reports over the last days, including a new national record carp! Press Release:
Girl Power!
22-08-2007 From our German Prologic team boss, Christopher Paschmanns, we
received yet another great report: "There are many thoughts on your mind, during
the 1200km tour to Cassien, most dominant the excitement and happiness to be at
this place soon again. Of course some worries as well : all the time, the money,
the effort, the bait...is it worth it? Yes! After 18 days on the bank of
southern France most famous lake, I know the answer. Together with Christian
Münz and his sister I took the 12hour drive down south again, in a car totally
overloaded with DD Bait (sweet Crustacean home rolled boilies with banana
flavour and sandeel powder and fishy Biored boilies without flavour plus
particles). As a big bonus, my girlfriend Angela also flew down to Nice and
stayed with me ten days... Waterlevel was extremely high, fishing pressure as
well. We arrived in a full moon phase and it took us some time to get the fish
on the bait but it worked out again. Christian and I, both fishing a completely
identical set up (SMG rods ins 12ft 23/4lbs, Okuma Axeon and Spectar reels, mono
snag leader, heavy inline leads, Prologic C4 or C2 in size 6 as line aligner
tied not a knot on 25lb Reptilian) fished run by run. Sometimes we even handed
over the rod while playing a fish. We call it holiday-style! We shared over 55
runs, some of which were catfish, and landed some really stunning cassien carp.
Highlights were a very old Cassien bull mirror of 1,04meter and 'The Dragger',
one of the old original commons of the lake and again a fish far longer than 1
meter. That one old common, that I wished so much to catch since I saw it the
first time years ago, landed on our mats two times in the first week! He liked
the DD Baits so much that he even took on a pound of extra weight in a few days!
More news to come from my teammate Bastian and expect to see Christian again
here soon, he is giving it a go on a secret gravel pit right now... My thumbs
are crossed! Best regards from a now brown skinned Cassien junky who is trying
to sort his life out again in rainy Germany...Christopher Paschmanns." See the
amazing pictures from Chris' trip in the Gallery during this week.

the fishing is incredible any how ... every day they moved swims, trying many
places all from 8 to 12 meters depth, no prebaiting and fishing only with few
boilies around the bait. During the week it was evident that DDbait's F4 Elips &
Crustacean readymades was an outstanding bait. Many big mirrors was hooked on F4
Elips and Crustacean 20mm snowman'a rigged on Prologic's 7"stiff booms and the
fabulous C2 hook. At the end of the week more than 15 carp over 13kg was landed

Hi
This is for Fred Page "Holland"
You will need to buy a 40 euro permit which allows you to fish 2 rods in most of
Holland. It comes with an easy to understand map of places you can and cant fish.
The round about near Rotterdam airport has 4 lakes there which is covered with
your permit. There is also 2 good tackle shops in Den Haag who are helpful.
Hope this helps Tom French
Thanks a lot for helping me out - I hope you read this, Fred!

Hello...
your web site is very informative....but please can you tell me how I can tell
which is the left bank and which is the right bank???? Am I missing something?
Is it left as you go up stream or down stream?
I live in the Dordogne and I am finding my way around the rivers etc...I shall
let you know how it goes...
All the best
Phil Shute
The french always face downstream when they
describe left or right bank - and the same goes for reservoirs and dammed lakes
- you face the damm direction to make up which is right or left bank. When
natural lakes or ponds with no strems running to or from it are concerned, it's
somewhat more complicated. Sometimes, there used to be a stram - but it's now
impossible to locate, as it has been piped for years - but the banks are still
called right or left nevertheless. Sometimes the only access path to the water
decides which bank is right or left - and sometimes no definate answer can be
found - you simply have to ask locally
You live in a very interresting area - and I look forward to hear more of you
fishing!

THE WORLD'S BIGGEST CARP EVER CAUGHT ON ROD & LINE IN THE HISTORY OF SPORT
FISHING! A 265 LBS SIAMESE GIANT CARP CAUGHT BY FISHING ADVENTURES THAILAND PRO
GUIDE KIK!
Jean-Francois Helias' Fishing Adventures Thailand team is
known internationally to be the most professional pro guides for freshwater
sport fishing in Southeast Asia.
That team of pro guides has accomplished numerous angling achievements,
including up to today racking up an amazing total of 129 IGFA world records (114
homologated + 15 currently pending an homologation), or setting several
non-official records such as the record of the Southeast Asian biggest fish ever
caught on rod and line they still hold up to this day for the catch on August
26, 2001 of a gigantic 185 Kg Arapaima .
Very recently, on July 2, 2007, Jean-Francois
Helias' Fishing Adventures Thailand team did it again in a very impressive way!
This time with the catch by Fishing Adventures Thailand pro guide "Kik" of the
world's biggest carp ever caught on rod and line in the history of sport fishing.
Kik who has been guiding in Jean-Francois' team since its inception is known
locally as the most complete local angler of the country. He is also Thailand's
top rod builder and top handmaker of top water lures. Though he does not fish
much as he used to do in his younger days, prefering guiding visiting anglers
nowadays and making them catching our Thai fish species, he still has it under
his skin.
On July 2, 2007, while guiding an American
client at Bung Sam Lan Lake, Kik had brought with him a brand new fishing rod he
had just finished to custom build. His intention was only to hook up and to play
one or two Mekong giant catfish so he could test his rod. His karma on that day
was gonna turn in a way he would have never expected.
Instead of a hardfighting Mekong catfish, Kik hooked up instead the kind of
catch of a lifetime some anglers would sell their soul to the devil for. A
Siamese Giant Carp or Catlocarpio siamensis we estimated weighing just over 120
kg (265 pounders). She may be a tiny bit bigger but 120 kilos is already very
fine with us. On the opposite of lots of anglers we have always prefered
estimating the weight of our fish catches at the minimum rather than exagerating
or hyping it.
Even with a bunch of kilos missing from her real weight, Kik's catch is anyway
the biggest Siamese carp ever caught here in Thailand on rod and line, and on
top of it, the world's biggest carp ever caught on rod and line!
Isnt' that catch twice bigger the size of the current IGFA All Tackle world
record for that species? Yes it is!
Has the fish been caught according to the IGFA rules? Yes!
Does it qualify then for a new record? No!
The only scales we had that day at the lake were our usual certified 100 kg
scales. No way we would have thought we were gonna catch that gigantic carp.
Knowing she was weighing well over the 100 kg mark there was no need for us to
bother with the weighing procedure. We had no other option than accepting losing
the opportunity to submit that exceptional catch with the IGFA for a record. By
the way I have bought last month from the USA a set of 500lb digital scales
specially because I thought we may have to weight fish catches over the 100 kg
mark some of these days. The 500lb digital scales are still at my home....
waiting for me to find free time so I can bring them to the calibration
institute to have them certified. Too busy guiding and fishing, as usual not
enough time to do everything I would or I should!

Kik's gigantic carp catch is the second carp
ever taken at Bung Sam Lan Lake from the 5 "super biggies" stocked at the lake
23 years ago. These 5 carp coming from the wild, exactly from the Chaopraya
River in the Ratchburi province where they got netted, were already all weighing
above the 90 kilos (almost 200 pounds) mark when sold to the lake owners.
In over two decades, only one of them has ever been landed by an angler. It is
the estimated 110 kilos Siamese giant carp caught by our local friend Lung Dam.
Any dedicated European carp angler knows about that famous photo showing Lung
Dam with a straw hat posing behind his capture. A picture which has been
published in almost every European fishing magazine.
For the anecdote, that very giant carp caught by Lung Dam was so close to be
caught a second time last year. We were guiding a return client from England,
Nicholas Dean, a lovable guy and a very experienced angler as well. Nick hooked
up Lung Dam's over 200 lb carp - no mistake about it - it was her 200 % with her
very unique pattern of dark brown scales nuances on her body. Nick played her
the right way all along the fight. He did not let the powerful carp entangling
his line around the close neighboring structures. He was doing very fine. The
carp got finally tamed, almost ready to be netted.
Apparently, the gigantic size of the carp appearing at the surface in front of
him had Nick losing his focus for a few seconds....enough for the carp to play
the usual Siamese giant carp trick which is to play tamed, and all of a sudden
doing a last and unexpected rush towards the angler, passing just under his rod
and his feet, and escaping under the bungalow by running through its wooden
stilts. Next the line is entangled around the stilts. The carp got free by
either getting unhooked or breaking the line....
Nick had lost in a split second a catch of a
lifetime, his rights to be proud of his achievement, to deserve fame and
exposure in the angling press media. Sad, very sad situation. We were all sad
about it. Having someone you like losing an exceptional fish is not only
mentally painful for the angler but for his guide too. It was the kind of day
you wish everything you had just experienced did not happen....
Though Kik had no problem to land successfully the grandma carp, we had to cope
next with a bunch of difficulties to manage a proper photo session. For such a
catch of a lifetime no need to say how much one wants to immortalize both the
fish and the moment of life at its best. We are in the monsoon season. It was
raining and a heavy storm was coming. So we had to be fast and to hurry
everything. Also when like us you are totally into conservation and into catch
and release you do not want to keep that kind of exceptional fish too long. You
want a few good pics and release next the fish in the very best conditions to
assure its survival.
Let me tell you the task did not go easy. Kik had called an employee of Bung Sam
Lan to help him handling the mammoth carp for the photo session. But the duo
were not enough strong to lift and keep the carp out of the water while my wife
Lek & Kik's wife Pim were taking the photos. The boys were struggling in the
water to handle the powerful grandma carp, getting slapped a few times by her
powerful tail. Almost all the pics taken by Lek & Pim sadly turned out bad. A
pity for such a catch of a lifetime! I had to delete almost all of them except
for about a dozen of almost decent ones I saved.
Our Fishing Adventures Thailand team has now three non-official but first class
records: a 185 Kg Arapaima catch which is still today the Southeast Asian
biggest fish ever caught on rod and line; that 120 kg Siamese Giant Carp, the
world's biggest carp caught also on rod and line; and a 100 kg freshwater giant
stingray we fought for 6 hours which is from my knowledge the biggest of its
kind ever caught in Thailand on rod and line.
You know what? The Fishing Adventures Thailand rocks & is here to stay!
So don't be surprised if in a near future you receive an email informing you we
have finally succeeded to land a Mekong giant catfish over the 100 kg mark.....

Hi You have a great site. I have planned a trip to Vieilles de Forges for the
first week in October. Is night fishing only allowed between March and September
do you know. Please but my mind to rest.
Thanks Tom French
Don't worry - nightfishing is allowed all year this year on most of the Lac de Vieille Forges. Exceptions are stretches at the beach; on a 200 meters security zone at the dam; along the RD40 at Pont des Aunes and at the port area.

Hello,
I'm sorry to be a pain but our family are going on holiday to Holland in August
and as three of us are avid anglers I was wondering if you could give us any
advise on where to fish. We are staying in Wassenaar which is close to Den Hague
and not too far from Amsterdam and Rotterdam. My two sons in law are carp crazy
and I'm more into general course fishing.
Is there anywhere close to this region where we could obtain day tickets that
you know of? I would very much appreciate any help you may be able to give. I
believe that permits are required and qre obtainable from most tackle shops.
Many thanks Fred Page
In Holland you'll need the general
angling permit, called the "Sportsvis-akte", which is available from
post-offices. In most places you'll need an additional local permit for the
water in question, as most waters are club waters. Usually these permits can be
obtained at local tackle shops or restaurants.
I have no personal experiences from the area you mention, and thus can't specify
further.

Hi there
My name is Jim and i live in sunny Spain on the Costa Brava. In September we are
planning a fishing trip to the mighty river ebro and have recently purchased a
dingy with a small outboard motor of 4 HP and the problem we have is that no one
seems able to tell us where and what we need to do to license the boat so we can
use it on the ebro hope you can help with some info
Jim Keen
The general problem in Spain appears to be, that angling licenses and boat licenses usually are not available from the same authorities, and the Ebro region is no exception! In fact, as far as I've heard, you can not even get both permits in the same town! Unfortunately, I do not have the adresses - and as far as I know, it also depends on which section of the river, you plan to fish. You may be able to find the adresses on some spanish sites - bu I just found out right now, that my old link to a valuable site called Apesca Tocan is now invalid. Too bad - I used to find many valuable informations on that site.

Press Release: BIG Fish! 22-06-2007 From Italian big fish specialist, Valerio D'Angelo, we received yet another report of a huge Grass carp. “During the day it was extremely windy, so not many Grass carp was feeding. Early in the morning I did a massive prebaiting with sweet corn and Banana Crustacean readymades, at 5:30 PM, the middle rod was off, when this 22kg grass carp picked up my 16mm Banana Crustacean pop up, mounted on aC2 size 4 hook. Due to the incredible hard fighting, I can sincerely confirm that Prologic’s C2 hooks are actually the best carp hook I have ever used.” News from French Team member Guillaume Vial. "In may, a few one night sessions turned out to be very busy. As lake's water level is very high, fishing close to the margins was the best approach and constant prebaiting with home rolled boilies did the trick. Biggest caught weighed 19,8kg and a double take : 20kg and 21,5kg the same night. Baits were made with Crustacean mix added with Soluble Fish Protein, Chrysalis, Liver Powder and Insect Juice. That was also the right occasion to test my new rods and the SMG in 12' 2,75lbs passed the test ok. So slim and so powerful at the same time, I could not imagine this was possible." Now Guillaume will start his 6 months full time fishing season, testing new gears and baits, so you can expect to hear much from him soon!!! Now the fishing is incredible, Carp fishing, Tench & Bream fishing is really worth a go - See all the great reports, we had during the week in the gallery! Dear Kenth,
Mary, the big Common Carp was caught this year for the first time. The last
Angler who take the carp was Dieter Thomas Stein, last year in november with the
old world record.
Emir took the Carp in a 6 ha Lake in Germany, nearby Mannheim.
Mary is still alive and will surly give us a new record in autumn.
The rainbow carp is dead, thats right…
Greetings from Germany, Jan Brauns
I suspected the fish to be the one I'd heard of,
caught by Dieter! Even then an impressive catch - and an equally or perhaps even
more impressive story, that I'd had loved to be able to bring in these pages
back then! I did find a link to a site, that had the story - look here
- the link to Max Nollert's site is fortunately still valid - however, the text
is in german only.
You are quite right - hopefully we have not seen the last of this magnificent
specimen!
Thanks for these details!
I can add, that Emir caught his fish Sunday the 3th June at 9.30 a.m.. She fell
for a homemade 20mm Pelzer Element boilie flavoured with The Energizer-soak
complex, and put down a scrap of more than 30 minuttes, before she graced the
bank!

Hello
My name is Mike I m general Manager from fishing Factory Bivylight.com. We will
fishing in Danmark on 30.6. – 7.7.2007 on Tjele Langsø lake (privat) it is good
for Capfishing?
Maybe can you give Information of good carp Lakes near by Viborg !?
Thank you for you help.
P.S. Emir Caro with his new World Record common from Germany near by my Home
Town 120 kilometers distance..! - Big Fisssssssssssssssssshhhh !!!
Sex carp and Rockn Roll only big carps.
Best Regards and only hungry carps.
Mike / Michael Eisel
As you mention, Tjele Langsø is not a public lake,
and I have only very little and unfortunately only old informations on the
fishing there. I heard of a few quite good carp from there almost 15 years ago -
and if they are still there - they could be quite spectacular now! I have no
qualified guess as to fish stock size / numbers.
In the Viborg area - the two Viborg lakes right by the town center can in fact
offer quite prolific fishing at times. Carp stocks are rather good for danish
standards; max weights a bit dissapointing though.
17 kg+ fish should have been caught in the past, but have never been properly
wittnessed, nor documented by a photograph - and a 10 kg+fish will be a
good one from there, though not exceptional. Personally, I find it plausible,
that much bigger fish are there to be caught - but that's pure speculations due
to good water quality and abundant natural food stocks. It is in fact a bit odd,
that to my knowledge, no 15kg+ carp from there have been documented ...
I do hope, that you'll find some good fishing on danish grounds - on Tjele
Langø, at Viborg Lakes or perhaps somewhere else!
- Please give me a notice of how you get on, when the time comes!

18.06.07: Hi Mates I have read you are looking for pictures of my new Worldrecord Carp "Mary". No problem, here are two pictures just for you!!! I really like your homepage, thats the reason why you get some pictures from me. Go on...... Cheers, Emir Caro Thanks a
lot for these pictures - and congratulations with one of the most fantastic
fish, I'v ever seen in a picture! (See
the main presentation of the fish in the opening page) Again refering to Fishmagic.com, it should be
the Rainbow lake 40 kg+, that died shortly after the latest capture. The
problem in this sad story probably have been exactly too long time out of
the water due to misunderstood publicity needs! |

Prologic Press Release: Just now the carp fishing in Europe seems incredible. We receive reports daily, with big and beautiful carp from all regions. Pictured is a stunning 27,3kg mirror carp, caught by French carp angler Vincent Damon on a big lake in South West France using DDbait 24mm F4 Elips Readymades, fished over a carpet of readymades & DDbait 20mm Halibut pellets. Another big Carp, has just been caught by our Hungarian Prologic Consultant, Christian Schlotti, see the fish and many others in the gallery. The Month of May, saw yet a new record of visitors, here on our webpage. The amount visitors is massive and still increasing! Unfortunately, not all good news this time. From the Danish carpangler association er received a short press release: “a major fish-kill has occurred at the Danish Harte Dons lakes at least 200 dead carp are found, there has also been found dead fish in Danish lake Nordborg. Fish has been sent to analysis and meanwhile we recommend not to fish these lakes and if you have been fishing there during the spring and winter get all your gear disinfected. We will post a guide to disinfection at www.danskekapefiskere.dk as soon as possible” Now the fishing is incredible, Carp fishing, Tench & Bream fishing is really worth a go - See all the great reports, we had during the week in the gallery! And keep the pictures and reports coming, whether it’s big predators, carp or any other great specimen fish - we cannot get enough! info@prologicfishing.com Brgds Mads Grosell www.prologicfishing.com |

28.05.07:
Prologic Press Release: Dear All, From Italy we received some great reports from the last week. Pictured is Valerio D'Angelo with the biggest of a 12 fine grass carp landed during last week end. The 24kg monster was caught using a 16mm Kiwi Crustacean pop up over a bed of crushed F5 Kiwi & Crustacean readymades. The rig was a combi using Prologic’s superb 7" tungsten stiff booms and a C2 size4 hook. Big carp angler and Nordic
carp record holder, Rasmus Jespersen, is at it again. Rasmus, seem’s to able
to find and catch big carp, ahead of the crowd – a true Pioner spirit and
something that deserves great respect. Here is one more memorable catch – a
96cm long Danish mirror – pulling the scales to 18,4kg – Making it obvious,
that no other Danish angler have more big Danish carp under their belt. The
carp was caught on a single 24mm F5 Creambanana & Crustacean readymade, over
a bed of tigers, readymades and real mussel meat. The fish was caught on a
C3 hook size 2 and the new Reptilian hooklink material. We congratulate
Rasmus, with yet a remarkable achievement. |

Hallo
I am Kenny from Belgium and I am going to France this year. I wonna fish days
only, but I like to stay at my place in the night and don't move to the camping.
Is this somthing risky?
Greatz Kenny Spillebeen.
Well, all over France they are very prohibitive about "Camping Sauvage" - which is camping outside authorized camping grounds. This in fact also includes while you are fishing - and certainly if you are not fishing, but staying bivvied up over night. You will almost certainly be facing a fine, if caught. During nightfishing bivvies or maybe only shelters and umbrellas are usually accepted in nightfishing sectors - but may be requested to be marked with a lantern - and are not allowed to be left unattended at any time of the day or night.

Prologic press release:
Swedish Prologic consultant, David Lundqvist, did it again! Last year, David was
the man behind one of Scandinavia’s most remarkable carp braces – now he has
topped that brace – with an unreal trio of mirrors weighing 15,5 – 18,5 and 19,7
kg in just one night! All fish was caught on DDbait F4 Crustacean readymades,
coated with Crustacean powder dip. David Prepared the swim with a sloppy spodmix,
made from Crustacean methodmix, DNA krill powder and Elips pellets, to make a
big cloud of attraction in the area – it certainly worked. Pictured is David
with his stunning mirrors of 18,5 and 19,7kg!

20.05.07:
Hi Kenth,
I have just returned from fishing a few days on a river in the northern part of
France and did quite well.
The first dayalready, I landed some nice carp with a average of 10kg's. My
girlfriend came along with me, and helped me where she could. Even on her 23
birthday, she was helping me catching some carps, isn’t that very nice of her!
The first day's of fishing I landed some great carps and especially 2 nice
grasscarps of 89cm and 9,5kg and one of 99cm and 11,5kg! They where big fighters
as well and tested my material to the edge. When I fished for 2 days the weather
change dramatically into no winds and lots of sun. The carp stop with feeding
and the result was no hits. After 3 days of hard work we stopped with fishing
and went home for some rest.
Kindly Regards Alex Poot

I can see, that you've hit that river at the right time and place to do that well! Congratulations to both of you!
30.04.07:
Dear Angler
Congratulation for the web site wich is really good.
I contact you because I look for carp magazine contact in these countries:
Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Greece.
Thanks a million in advance
Best Regards Jocelyn Dupré
I'm glad you like my site - I allways try to do
my best.
However on this one, I regret to say, that I can't help - but perhaps some of
the readers can?
- If anyone out there can help, please drop me a line. If any help turns up, I
forward the info in this page - providing, that the info will be of benefit of
the users of the site.
Please note, that no info on the purposes of this
mail are given - but I suspect it to be with bussiness purposes. I must point
out, that I have no intentions of acting as a commercial consultant without
anything in it for me!
The www.carphunters.com pages
have existed for more than a decade as a philantropic project to make it easier
for everyone around Europe (and the World) to enjoy carpfishing - I do not make
any sort of money from it - but if somebody else is making money from
informations, articles, pictures and so on, coming from me, I think it's fair,
that I get paid as well!
I'm inclined to add, that adverticing is of course possible - please contact me
for current charges.
20.04.07:
hello,
I saw the repport of the biggie from cassien at 34 kilo. The name of that
particular fish is 100% sure Timothee. Mathilde is dead for some time.
I understand the comotion about the weigt, because this fish has never been over
30 kilo before as far as I know. I know 5 captures from this fish. 3 times 29.5
kilo, including myself september 2005, also on 29.5 kilo. And one time about 27
kilo's in spring 2006.
But Stella was also never over 30kilo and suddenly in spring 2006 over 31+ kilo
one time and after that back on 27 kilo last summer. So this weight of Timothee
can be possible, but suddenly so many kilo's + is a bit strange.....
Nice site by the way
Ciaou Alben Zantinge
I'm glad you like my site. You are quite right
about the name - Andreas Karrer has in fact asked me to correct it, and it's
done. The austrian lads also have come to the conclusion, that the fish is in
fact the one called Timothy or as you spell it Timothee (I've seen it spelled in
both ways before).
Regarding the weight of the fish, I see no reason to doubt it, as a weight gain
like you refere have been seen so often before in other fish. Fluctuations like
this is absolutely possible.
On the bottom line, all that hype in my view is of very little importance - and
if anyone should be tempted to cheat on fish weights, they actually only cheat
themselves! I don't think, that these lads do such things - and they are quite
familiar with weighing of very big fish.

Hello,
Hi, I am going to Étang de Barbanson in a few weeks and I am trying to find out
as much info as possible about the lake. Unfortunatley I can only see one link
which may be old info? http://inet.uni2.dk/home/carphunters/ParcoursCarpe/60-oise.htm
Do you know anyone that might be able to give me more details about this lake?
Thank you for your time, all help is appreciated.

I can see, that you have forund an old link to the page on waters in the french Oise Departement. However, the info given there is all I've got on the water.
| 16-04-2007: Prologic Press Release: Monster Bream! Dansih Specialist angler, Poul Stolling had an incredible big bream session, this past weekend. Poul, fished a lake, known for big bream. All conditions was perfect, a warm steady wind blowing straight into Poul's chosen swim. The first night Poul prepared the swim with a scattered carpet of hemp, maize and DD’s Crustacean Feeder mix and Hemp pellets. During the early hours of the first night Poul hooked up with the first big brean of 5,4kg and shortly after a mirror carp of 11,4kg! During the second evening, the wind picked up – still straight into the swim – that result, was as expected – the first dropback at 23:30lt and the big bream was on the bait all through the night! Poul landed no less 13 bream over 5kg, with 3 over 6 kg – 6,2, 6,8 and magic 7,1 kg!! Poul fished with inline bolt rig’s, 6’ Prologic tungsten uptraces, short Taipan traces, with a C2 size 6 in the end. All fish, was caught on single DDbait High Stim Indian Spice pop-up’s. A brilliant result!! The spring fishing is incredible - get out there and enjoy! |

12.04.07:
I wonder if you could give me some advice about Salagou. Firstly, is Salagou a
lake that you could fish on your own, or is it best to fish with someone else? I
am due to fish Salagou on 1st June for a week. However, due to flight times etc,
I will actually only be fishing for 5 nights and I was wondering whether you
think that this is enough time on the lake?
Regards Sarah Waters
Salagou is to my experience a very good place to
fish on your own, if you like it that way. The period you plan should be
absolutely brilliant. As only fishing within casting range is allowed, company
is only required for social purposes - but in places a boat could come in handy
for freeing fish from snaggs. This may be an issue in deciding to go alone or at
least two together.
However, whether a week is enough depends largely on what you expect.
At Salagou, you can blank a full week in prime season (I've done it with 2
friends - not a single carp landed) - or you can catch loads of fish - or maybe
just a few really good specimens, making it all worth while just the same!
I wouldn't hessitate to give it a go in that week - and would expect to get
excellent action - and to bank good carp!
Don't forget the sun-blocker - and a shelter towards the famous and quite
powerfull Tramontane winds, picking up most days at about 10-11 AM!
Let me know how you get along - and Tight Lines!

29.03.07: Prologic DD-Baits Press release: Croatia Rocks on DDbait 27-03-2007 Another Croatian PB on DDBait – this time by happy angler Mario Boniæ, relatively new in carp fishing but already knowing the advantages of DDBait quality. Mario used a home rolled boilie, made by Midi Mix with added seeds, Pure Yeast Enchancer, Kiwi Taster and Kiwi flavour – the perfect spring bait. The 2x14mm snowman hookbait (14mm Kiwi boilie + Hi Stim14mm Kiwi+ popup), was presented on a bed of Hemp seed, soaked in DDbait's outstanding pure hempseed oil and 14mm boilies. The perfect 22,3kg carp was caught using C14 13' 3.5lb rods, Spectrum FC 16lb hooklink to a C1 size 4 hook. Mario is still putting his Kiwi bait in – so another biggie may come his way! We now know of a 15,2 kg monster pike caught this past Saturday on our new 4Play Herring hardlure – pictures on its way! Now the fishing is incredible, both carp fishing & Pike fishing really worth a go - Especially these last 2 weeks of march normally produces some very big pike! So it is hard to choose! Any way Keep the pictures and reports coming, whether it is big predators, carp or any other great specimen fish - we can not get enough! info@prologicfishing.com Mario's fish is displayed in the opening page of this update. Pictured here is another immaculate fish of 15 kg+, caught on DD-Baits by William Mendiant. No further info in this catch is given. |

Hi Kenth
My friends and I are planning a trip to the famous water, lac de st. Cassien!
I've read it's possible to rent boats there, but haven't been able to figure out
where! Can you or anyone els help us, with an adr, phone, website? if so, is it
possible to book them? since we're going from 3/4 - 10/4 st. cassien will
probably be crowded with people.
If anyone have some informations about St. Cassien; tactics, spots, good/bad
things since its first time we're going to visit this famous water. My email is:
sadisspwn@hotmail.com
Would be very thanksfull for every inputs.
Best regards Rob Bjerre
I think you are ever so right to expect the water to
crowded in that period - in fact, I'm sure it might prove more than hard even to
find a vacant swim!
According to my informations, boats for hire can be found at the restaurants "Chez
Pierre" and the "Bois de Caillan" - og at least this used to be the case. Try to
look in the link provided in the list for Lac de St. Cassien for more
informations on the lake - if it works now - sometimes it have failed to connect
the the very informative site of Gérard Thévenon.
21.03.07:
Hi,
How do I actually access the list say for example in France? As I can see a link
to the list so to speak.
Thanking you in advance.
Kind regards, David Howard
It's quite simple really - push the button "European Carp Waters" in the international opening page - click on the map over the country you are interested in, and you're at it. In the case France, the list is split up further by Departements - just follow the instructions clearly given in the page.
07.03.07:
Hi my name is Jürgen. I´m from Germany. (Do you understand german??) I`m planing
a trip to the lago di annone. Can you send me some information about the lake? I
heard that some of the naïve italian making trouble against the carphunters?
Thank you Jürgen Behringer
I understand and read german rather well - but
have chosen to make this site in english only (apart from the danish and french
sections of CH-Suite) .
Unfortunately, I have no further info on any of the waters mentioned in the
CH-Suite pages, besides what is already available in the respective pages. I
have simply chosen to forward straight away every bit of informations, given to
me or found by reading magazines from throughout Europe. I keep no further
records on the waters mentioned.
I can say, though, that I too have heard of
episodes, where local italians have been aggressive towards visiting anglers -
similar to what over the years have been reported from Holland, France, Germany,
Poland and several other countries, where visiting anglers have created problems
by bad conduct! This obviously can cause the locals to react toward strangers,
if bad experiences have been had with prior visitors!
I'm not saying, that I find such reactions acceptable - but find it quite
understandable, if visitors spoil local fishing by giving every carpangler a bad
name in the public!
Much could be avoided, if it weren't for too many incompetent idiots among us,
who badly need to learn how to behave when visiting waters outside their own
backyard!
The fact is, that this rather small fraction of anglers from small, dark
crevices of the international carpangling scene, are spoiling a tremendous lot
for the vast majority of us, who have no problem with proper conduct while
fishing.
It's sad, that we have to take such problems into account, when we plan our next
quests.

There seems to be a great deal of information on carp fishing in and around
Amsterdam. Can you tell me a little about why carp fishing seems to be so
popular. Here in the US, we consider them a trash fish and nobody really fishes
for them. So I am a little confused. Do people eat the carp? Do they just catch
and release them? Are there no other species to fish for? No panfish? Anything
you can tell me will really help. There is not much on the Internet.
Also, as to you Dutch/English translation. The only thing I noticed was your use
of the word "hole" as in "fishing is allowed the hole year." It should be "fishing
is allowed the whole year." Hope that helps. Thanks,
Daryl Adams, USA
Well, we here in Europe love the quest for the
carp - not only in the Amsterdam area!
In fact, the carp is reckoned to be the 3. most popular species to fish for in
most of Europe - after pike and salmon! This is certainly not because we don't
have anything else to fish for - but carp out-rank every type of trout, charr,
bass, perch, catfish and the lot in European lowland angling!
In fact, most european anglers fail to understand why americans haven't
discovered the great potentials of carp angling instead of considering the
species as trash!
- You are really missing out on the great angling potential by neglecting
this hardfighting and beautiful species!
I'm perfectly aware of the fact, that carp are not an indigenous fish in America
- as in fact it was not in Europe some 1000 years ago - and that new species as
adaptable as the carp can have devastating effects on local species. I therefore
understand the concerns of the spreadding of the carp in american waters - and
why it's considered an undesired fish in your eco-systems.
However, here in Europe many of us nowadays find carp to be the ultimate
challenge with a rod and line, almost unrivaled in temperate freshwater rivers
and lakes in our part of the world - and as the species has been around in
European waters for many centuries, it's now very well established - and we like
it that way. In most of Europe, carp stocks are looked carefully for, and
restockings are undertaken regularly.
From the beginning, more than a millenium ago, it was because monks found the
fish easy to breed for food and spread it out to monestaries all over Europe -
and in great parts of eastern and central Europe it's still a popular fish for
consumption - even as a traditional Christmas meal!
Most modern carpanglers today fish for carp on a Catch & Release basis -
because we like to catch them big!
In fact - it's probably one of the best ways to relax and spend your time off
duty in peace and quiet surroundings on the lake or river bank!
Regarding the translating - you have no doubts visited the pages of CH-crew
member and friend, dutch angler Alex Poot - who might have made that translation
mistake. For both him and me, english is sort of a second, third or fourth
language (I'm danish) - and we both make mistakes in translation from time to
time - even though we usually do our best.

Hello
Having read your article on carpfishing In Romania I thought (as a romanian
fisherman) I could bring some information which, as you pointed in the text
itself, you did not know at the time.
Carps are the most widely spread fish in Romania, you can find them in virtually
every pond, lake and river. To fish in public waters you will need a permit with
a stamp from the Fish & Hunting Association of the county where you intend to
fish in (although in 20 years of fishing, I was never asked for my license ever...).
However, I would say nearly 90 % of all waters (ponds and lakes, to a much
lesser extent the rivers) are now private, so it is not really worth taking the
license anymore.
Hence, you need not worry about the official rules and regulations, as the
private ones will apply (usually quite different for every lake).
Fishing is made against a daily ticket which you can purchase locally (the guard
will come and charge you, do not always expect a reciept!). You do not need the
fishing license to buy the ticket. He will also inform you about the regulations.
Nightfishing and camping on shores is usually alowed (it is how I mostly used to
fish in summers)
Although carps are present in nearly all waters, capital carps are a different
story. Most waters are run like buisnisses, in which game and course fishing is
secondery - most of the money is made of harvesting the fish and selling it to
the markets - hence it will be very difficult to find big carps anywhere. If you
know Romanian, you can find some good tips here:
www.pescuitul.ro.
It holds a good data base with many fishing venues, updated with the personal
fishing experiences of the anglers going there.
Generally try to find larger waters, where harvesting is difficult. I would not
recommend Snagov - full of poachers...
The most challenging fishing is probably the Danube and its Delta, although it
can
