Alter Rhein. Rebstein, St. Gallen, Arbon
In this 7 km long stretch an old blind arm of the River Rhine - and thus no river any more - branched in several arms, offering excellent fishing. Carp have been caught to 22 kg+. Nightfishing not allowed. Very clear water over the gravelly bottom, and no current to interfere with your bait presentation. Permits from Fischerei Fachgeschäft (Tackleshop) Köppel in Rebstein, from Apolloni in St. Gallen, and Schawalder in Arbon on the Bodensee.

Bremgarten Stausee. Bremgarten, Zürich.
This 25 ha. reservoir some 13 km west of Zürich has a quite small carp population - and because of this very good specimens are present. 23 kg+ fish have been caught. Nightfishing allowed.
Permits available from the Stadtpolizei Bremgarten, in Fischereifachgeschäft Spiegelgasse 8, and in the Shell gas-station; at 25.- Sfr a day - 80.- a month.

Bret, Lac de, Puidoux,  
This 40 ha. water reservoir requires hard work to track down the big carp, which has been caught to 21 kg in the past. The carp density is very low - which gives the lake a great potential. 2 rods allowed; nightfishing is not.  >Carpe Magazine no. 22 july 1998<.

Bodensee, Rohrschach, Kreuzlingen
This big "inland sea" of 536 km², also called Lake Constance, on the river Rhine, and bordering to both Germany, Switzerland and Austria, is very deep - but also have shallow areas, where carpeanglers should concentrate their effords. The biggest carp so far caught from the lake was netted by a swiss fisherman at 34,3 kg (!).

St. Gallen Kanton: A very good section is from the Rheintal Binnenkanal to Rohrsach, and from Arbon to Horn. From the airport Altenrhein to the Binnenkanal is a top stretch for carp. The record from this section went 34 kg+! Generally, nightfishing is not allowed, but in the "Wels-wochen" is it possible. Ask locally! Permits available from Gemeinde Amt Rorschach. Just outside these harbours, big shoals of commons are assembled in autumn. In summer the area between Arbon and Egnach is very good - in june the big shoals are often found to the left of the Arbon "Schwimmbad". In late summer look for the carp over the sandy bottom of the Münsterlingen bay, where also sunken trees are found on the bottom. No nightfishing allowed outside the "Welswochen". Hallwilersee. Aarau, Hallwil
Permits are available from Gemeinde Amt Birrwil, to this 1000 ha lake holding carp to 23 kg+. The lake is considered to be one of the top carpwaters in this country. Nightfishing not exactly allowed - but often possible with no problems.

Les Iles, Sion,  
This about 12 ha. gravel pit is reputed to hold only about 30 mirror carp - and 2 huge commons, that has never been caught. >Carpe Magazine no. 22 july 1998<.

Les Mangettes, Monthey,  
This gravel pit is still being worked, but has a good carp population to 15 kg. A quite easy water.  >Carpe Magazine no. 22 july 1998<.

Maggiore, Lago. Tessin, Ticino.
This very big lake of some 20.000 ha. have a quite good carp population. Carp have been caught to 25 kg+. The most promissing areas on the swiss part of the lake lies between Magadino and Gordola-Tenero, where the bank is rather savage on a 3 km stretch. As no roads or tracks are found here, a boat is nescessary to get to the swims. This area is very popular in spring. Also worth a try is the area at Corippo and at Gordola, on the "Lago di Vorgono".

Mure, Noville,  Valais 
This about 7 ha. gravel pit is well stocked with commons an nice fully scaled carp. 2/3 of the bank is private and cannot be fished.  >Carpe Magazine no. 22 july 1998<.

Murtensee. Bern, Murten
Carp to 26 kg+ have been caught from this 1400 ha. lake. No nightfishing allowed. The 8 km long Broye-kanal connect to the nearby Neuenburgersee. The canal can be worth a try in the summer months.

Origlio See, Tessin, Lugano, Taverne, Comano
In southern Switzerland, this 10 ha. lake is found in genuine natural paradise! Both carp and grasscarp are present to 20 kg+ - lake carp record 22 kg. The density of  10 kg+ fish is very good. Tents and bivvies with integrated groundsheets are not allowed - umbrellas and shelters are accepted. No boats allowed. Rotsee. Luzern
This narrow, some 2 km long and to 200 meters wide lake have a very good carp population. Lake record is 22 kg+. Nightfishing not allowed. Permits from Gemeinde Haus Luzern.

Wohlensee. Bern, Kappelen
Nightfishing is allowed in summer months, outside this fishing is allowed from 05 - 24 on this 350 ha water. In the upper end, the lake is rather shallow, and big shoals of carp can be seen amongst the weeds. The banks are widely overgrown with overhanging trees. Down from the Kappelen Brücke, the lake gets wider. Prebaiting is not allowed on this water. Carp have been caught to 20 kg+. >Michael Fuchs,  nov. 2004<

Züricher See. Zürich
Unfortunately, nightfishing is not allowed on this 1600 big lake, where carp have been caught to 24 kg+. In 1999, the carp were due to exceptionally elevated temperatures able to spawn succesfully.
