Carp Venues World Wide This list of carp venues
all over the World is only the beginning of a project, that problably never can
be completed - but to get anywhere, there has to be a start - howevwer humble it
may be. This is a kind of
work, that can't succeed without the assistance of carpanglers from all around
the globe - because it simply will be an impossible task for one man to collect
usefull key information on such a huge amount of venues. - Let me know in info@carphunters.com - and if you can provide a few pictures of good carp and/or the water in question - even better! Kenth Esbensen, |

Marocco:
Probably not many european anglers know this, but
just on the other side of the Gibraltar, carpfishing in the way we know it has
been developing during several years now. Also very big barbel closely related
to the iberian species are present in maroccan waters.
Old french angling books mention 20 kg+ carp to be present in mountain lakes.
These carp are reputed to be fighting even harder than the french carp. The last
few years have seen an increased international interrest in the waters of this country - and
several tour operators now market package tours to Marocco.
There is a closed season from 17. february to 19. of
may 2007 - and this year it will be inforced, which has never really
been the case previous years.

It's also on this huge
reservoir of 17 km in length, 4 km across at its widest part and with countless
deep bays, covering in all in the region of 3700 hectares, that carpfishing have
found a replacement of legendary Sarulesti lake.
Dutch, german and french anglers have done extremely well the past last few
years. Many impressive braces of big mirrors, linears and commons to well over
20 kg have been caught by pioneering anglers.
Lake record on the rod is a mirror of 27,5 kg - which is expected to fall every
day now, as both 35 kg+ and a 40 kg+ carp have been landed in a net and weighed
before wittnesses. No doubts, we have yet to see, what this new, still quite
virgin, top venue have to offer - and no talking about the huge barbel have been
mentioned lately - they should also end up on the unhooking mat of a lucky
carpangler some day to come!

| PRESS RELEASE Austin Lake Produces Big Fish Awards for Carp Anglers Bartlesville OK --- Town Lake in the heart of Austin is 2-0 when it comes to the keenest location for huge carp in the state of Texas. The Oklahoma based American Carp Society bestows their Big Fish Award only twice a year - and both times, Town Lake was the location where trophy carp were landed in 2004. Houston resident Richard Somerville and his fishing partner Keith Melrose headed out for a leisurely New Year's Eve fishing trip to the Colorado River fed lake never thinking the day would end with national honors. Both anglers are members of the American Carp Society (ACS) which makes their catches eligible for entry in the association's bi-annual contests. Somerville is an accomplished carp angler who hails originally from Nottingham, England. His talents are well-known in the carp fishing community. It came as no surprise to those who know Somerville that his skill and knowledge of this sport would one day bring him such recognition. According to American Carp Society director, David Moore, Somerville cut it close with his fish being recorded on the last day of the six-month competition. "Richard is amazing," adds Moore. "I believe he had over fifty 30-pound-plus carp logged in his fishing diary in 2004. To catch a contest winning 35-pound, 2-ounce carp on the last day of eligibility was just the best way to end the year. We're thrilled to honor him with the Second Season Big Fish Award." Somerville joins fellow ACS member, Tommy Robinson of Baltimore, Maryland who won the First Season Big Fish Award for his 45-pounder-plus during the first half of 2004. The two ACS member anglers who exemplify the tenets of the organization and land qualifying trophy fish are awarded $500 each. Carp are a major sport fish in Europe, and the carp angling craze is starting to pick up momentum in the United States and Canada. The American Carp Society was founded to promote and provide education about catch and release carp angling. The organization teaches ecological conservation of the carp species and its environs. ACS is hosting the World Carp Championship to the St. Lawrence River in Northern New York State in June 2005. Traditionally held in Europe, this will be the first time the competition has traveled to North America. The championship brings world class carp anglers from around the globe to compete for big prizes and big carp with record breaking carp prizes of up to $1 million.
