Albert-kanaal, Hasselt
This canal connects the rivers Maas and Schelde at Antwerpen. There's quite a heavy boat-trafic, which can create trouble for the fishing here - but as quite a few very big fish has been caught here - to 20 and even 25 kg+, it just might be worth the trouble. A record carp of 32 kg has been caught from this canal.
Of course the average fish are considerably smaller. Nightfishing is now allowed on the right bank in Wallonne and on both sides in the part in Vlaanderen.

Barbençon, Lac de,
This was the first private water in the country, where nightfishing was allowed - but this is not the case anymore. It's not a big water - a mere 3½ ha. - but with a dense carp population. The biggest carp caught here went 17,8 kg, a common caught in august 2005. The fishing is controlled by a dutch family. 4 rods allowed for carp; barbless hooks preferred.

Bernissart, Lac de,
The carp stocing is impressive in these two small lakes at about 4 ha.. Even if the population is dense, many carp to 15 kg+ has been caught -  the biggest 19,3 kg. Nightfishing. >Internet, DeKarper, 2002<

Blaarmeersen, Gent

De Goorhoeve

Donkmeer, Oudenaarde, Dendermonde
The biggest lake in Vlanders - 30 ha. - originally a part of the river Schelde, but allready in the middle age by floodings of somme moors, it became a big lake instead. Carp to 15 kg+ are quite frequently caught, and one of 20 kg+ (called "Stompie") has been caught here. Boats are allowed - but nightfishing is not. Eau d'Heure, Lac de, Erpion, Wallonne The anual meeting of the Union Carpiste Wallonne is arranged in september on this water and the neighbouring Lac de Platte Taille. In this water the average carp caught are generally arround the 12-14 kg - bigger fish are known to be present, but has yet to be caught. >UCW, 2004<

Egleghemvijver, Hombeek, Mechelen
This 42 ha. old gravelpit can only be fished by members of  VBK (Vereinig Belgische Karpervissers) or "Egleghems Collectief". It'll cost 68 €  a year. Day- or week tickets are not available. Not few carp of 15 kg+ and a few around the 20 kg mark are present. Nightfishing all year round with 3 rods. No boats. Echternac, Lac de,
A very beautifull lake, offering good fishing for both carp and grasscarp. Most of the fish are commons to 20 kg - but big mirrors are also present. A big linear of 22 kg has been caught here. >Internet, Karperteam Frituur Roma, 2003<

Elsegem, Elsegem This blind arm on the river Escaut in the town Elsegem has big fish in it.. One over 20 kg and at least 2 others over 15 kg. Only 8 swims are available - and only 3 of these are considered good by the locals.   > Internet, OurCarpiste, 2002<, >Internet, Anzegemse Karpersite, 2003< Familiestrand Postel, Blanks do not occur - it is said at this water at Camping Familiestrand Postel! The stocks is huge - with the majority of the fish arround the 7 kg mark, but with at least 30 fish of 10 kg+! A few just topping 20 kg. >Internet, hrcteam, 2002< Hazewinkel, Mechelen Depth varies to about 12 meters in this 50 ha. water controlled by the state. You can fish it on a permit from Vlaamse Gemeenschap, available at any postoffice in the area. Only one bank is reserved for fishing. > Internet, OurCarpiste, 2002<

Hengelhoef Bokrijk, Genk
These 3 lakes covering in all about 20 ha. offers a fantastic carp fishing. A really hectic fishing for fish around the 10 kg can be on the cards - but there's always the chance of a real biggie to 23 kg! Normally 2 rods are allowed, but by buying two permits, you can fish with 3 rods. Nightfishing is not allowed - fishing is from sunup to sundown, and the premisses are open from march 1. to october 31.. To get there, take the E314, and get off at exit 30. Herbières, Lac de, Tertre
This 25 ha virgin and very natural water has not been fished for 25 years, but is now from 2004 a part of "The Angler's Paradise" along with Lac de Tertre and Le Domaine du Grand Rieu. Swims are being build, and 25 in all will be available, when the work is done. The water has an important carp population - but nobody really know the full potential of the water. Ijzer,
From the french border to Nieuwpoort this river offers good carpfishing - but do not expect any record fish from here. 10 kg+ fish are by no means rare. Many good and nice swims, where you can park your car right behind you.  >Internet, hrcteam, 2002<

Kasteelvijver Rijkel, Tongeren
This castle lake beside the road from Sint-Truiden to Tongeren holds good carp. Fishing is apparently for free! ??? >Internet, Carplovers, 2002<

Kempisch kanaal, Bocholt - Herentals

This canal is one of the internationally most famous big fish waters in Europe! An impressive number of 20kg+ carp to 34 kg+ have been banked from the different parts of this canal. Needless to say, the angling pressure on the more well known hotspots is considerable - all year round. At Herentals, after sluis 10, the canal join the huge Albert kanaal on its course to Antwerpen. Koohofput,
This approx. 10 ha. lake beside the Nieuwpoort hightway is connected to Koolhofvaart and Noordervaart. It holds carp to 15 kg+. It's reckoned as an "instant" vater with fish of 7-8 kg in average. Kortrijk-Bossuit Kanaal, West-Vlaanderen
This 16 km canal connects the Schelde and the Leie.  3 sluices at Kortrijk and 3 at Zwevegem, while Moes and Bossuit each has a single sluice. Each stretsh has its own name between anglers - like De Zwemkom, De Muur, Plattenstuk, Picora and several other names. Very ofteh matches are fished in weekends. Kortrijk-Moen Kanaal,
You only need the official permit to fish this canal, where quite a few good carp has been caught. A very high-backed mirror of 19,3 has been caught here. >Internet, DeKarper, 2002<

Lake Survija, Wommelgem, Antwerpen 25 swims are available to choose from on this 9 ha. private fishery, well stocked (estimated some 500 mirrors and commons) with carp to 50 lbs+. Lake record 55 lbs 6 oz. On-site café and toilets available. Bookings taken for full weeks - only 10 anglers on the venue at a time. 3 rods allowed. Moulin de Boiron, Gedinne
2 waters of 5 and 9 ha. in the Ardenne mountains, where the bigger is stocked with a good strain of french mirrors, while the smaller one has an old stock of an original strain. A hotel is present on the premisses >Internet, DeKarper, 2002<

Parkvijver Tervuren, Vossem
This 4-5 ha. water close to Bruxelles is open for carpfishing from sunup to sunset. Carp, silver carp and grasscarp to 15 kg+. >Internet, Boilie.de, 2002<

Plassendalevaart,
Connecting Oostende-Brügge kanalen to Nieuwpoort, this canal has a good head of carp in it. It can be a bit hard to find good swims to fish from, as access is not equally good everywhere. The stretch from the Leffinge-bridge and Slijpebrug is said to hold the bigger fish.. >Internet, hrcteam, 2002<

Platte Taille, Lac de, Erpion, Wallonne Nightffishing used to be allowed on a part of this reservoir on the river Heure - but is not any more! Roeselare-Ooigem Kanaal, Ingelmunster

Rue, Étang de, Private, rather nice water of 32 acres with carp to 50 lbs+. Also called Domaine du Grand Rieu. Many fish in the 15 - 20 kg range - and even more of 20 - 30 lbs. 4 rods allowed. Nightfishing allowed - boats are not. For the time being, only bookings for full weeks are taken. If you catch a 20 kg+ carp, you winn a weeks fishing for free! UK anglers has to book though Angling Solutions, while all others are adviced to book directly via the french section of the homepage - which is much cheaper. Schulensmeer, Linkhout, Hasselt
This popular 90 ha. water offers very varying depths and bottom conditions. The average carp are around the10 kg mark, and 15 kg+ fish are not rare. A few even tops 20 kg. Even if you can drive to many swims, a boat is recommended, as several of the better swims are situated on an island. Spildorenmeer, Walem, Mechelen
In good weather conditions in summer, swimmers can make fishing more or less impossible in this water right beside the E10 highway, but carp are actually present to just short of 20 kg. Quite a few are topping the 10 kg mark. >Internet, Anzegemse, 2002<

Stade de Waregem, Étangs de,
There is two lakes here - one at the main road to Waregem and the other right next to the library. The bigger one is fished the most - as it also is better stocked. The average carp here is 6 - 10 kg, but also bigger ones are present.
The big lake can be fished every day after march 3. - and the small lake every day after april 7.. Nightfishing allowed on some days. Boats are not allowed.  >Internet, Anzegemse, 2002<

Tertre, Lac du, Bergen, Henegouwen This commercial carp water of approx. 20 ha offers excellent fishing for a reasonable sum of money. the average carp do not top the 10 kg mark, but fish considerably bigger are not rare - biggest 26,5 kg. Cats to 50 kg+ are present - and sturgeons are also stocked. It's a very deep water - to 15 meters 5 meters out!  The gravelpit have been exploited untill 2004, but this has now stopped. Toilets and bath at the lake. Nightfishing allowed.  For the time being, only bookings for full weeks are taken. If you catch a 20 kg+ carp, you winn a weeks fishing for free!
