Czech  republic.

Notice!
Quite a few new entries have been added to this page, where I'm not absolutely sure whether the waters  are in fact located in the Czech rep. or in Slovakia
Please correct me, if I'm mistaken!
No offence is ment.

Unfortunately, nightfishing is not allowed on public czech waters, and you can only use 2 rods on these waters - and no boats or markers! You need a state permit to fish these venues. To be able to purchase the nescessary angling permits, also angling tourists are requested to take a, as far as I understand it, by no means complicated test to show, that you know the names of the fish and how big they grow in Czech waters - and if you know the right people and know where to go, it should be no big deal. (You can allways argue, what's the point, then?) The office is open for 2 hrs (!) - mondays only! Where to find it - and details on opening hours - ask localy! Different types of permits exist - and one of them should be covering all public waters in the republic.
As I must admit not understanding a word of czech, the many no doubt excellent czech internet sites are of not much help for us. Luckily other sources of informations exist - and you could maybe be one of them?

Private waters also exist, and here you can often fish 24/24 hrs and use 3 rods - and boats too.

If you have any corrections to - or any informations to add on czech carp waters, drop me a line on info@carphunters.com

For further informations on czech fishing, look at the site of the Czech Fishing Union - which is in english. This also links to more local sites - some of which are also (partialy) available in english, german and french - and some are still under construction.

Palava Lake District, Brün, Mikulov.
These waters became very famous in the early nineties, where many very big carp were caught here. Unfortunately, quite a few of them were then butchered ..... . However, 25 kg+ or even 30 kg+ fish are still quite frequently caught. Some of the lakes are very shallow, and fishing in ultra long distance will often be the key to succes here. Tickets available in the local restaurant.
